In a troubled future, a girl rebels against the life that has been prepared for her. In a world populated only by children, the relative order of society is held together by the thinnest of threads. Children are no longer born, but grown; and from inception they are refused a personality and thrust into highly-specialized education. With a lifespan of 15 years, their final days are spent keeping their barely-functioning society alive. A young doctor inadvertently discovers the cracks in the system and finds herself caught up in a revolution she is not sure she supports.
